ABOUT
The Story Told is Yours delves into the first-person narratives of newcomers to Berlin from different geographies, weaving them into a video of personal stories accompanied by an installation. For the installation, Özlem engraves micro-histories on the city's brick walls, inviting viewers to explore the multiplicity and interconnectedness of experiences associated with migration. The voices of the migrants, as viewers walk among these quotes, stumble upon the foot of hegemonic discourse and create cracks in the petrified narrative layers of dominant historiography. It is persistent attempt to remake the city's memory and dare to rewrite our shared history.
